Keyword Research Services

Keyword research that finds buyers.
not just traffic.

Most Indian businesses do "keyword research" by opening Google, typing three obvious phrases, and calling it a strategy. Two years and a hundred blog posts later, nobody's ranking, nobody's reading, nobody's buying. Clarvity does keyword research the way it should be done: mapping full search intent, finding the low-competition long-tail queries your buyers actually type, and building content plans against keywords that convert — not just ones that trend.

What's inside

Every intent. every angle.

Clarvity's keyword research covers every angle that decides whether a keyword actually earns its space in your content plan — buyer intent, competition realism, long-tail depth, competitor gaps, India-specific queries in English and Hindi, and a prioritised roadmap so nothing gets built without a target.

Buyer Intent Mapping

Every keyword tagged for intent — informational, commercial, transactional, navigational — and mapped to buyer journey stage.

Volume & Competition Analysis

Real numbers from Ahrefs, Semrush, and Google Keyword Planner — cross-referenced, not guessed at from one tool's estimate.

Long-Tail Discovery

The 4-6 word queries most agencies miss but real buyers actually type — lower volume, higher intent, easier to rank for.

Competitor Gap Analysis

What your 3-5 closest competitors rank for that you don't — the fastest path to picking up ranking share you're currently leaving on the table.

India-Specific Keywords

Hindi and Hinglish variants, city-specific queries, cultural context — the searches most India-based competitors miss entirely.

Content Brief & Roadmap

Prioritised 3-6 month content calendar with target keywords, briefs, and success metrics — so nothing gets written to a guess.

The basics

What is keyword research?

Keyword research is the SEO practice of identifying the specific search queries that potential buyers use to find products, services, or information related to your business — and analysing each query's search volume, competition level, buyer intent, and business relevance. Good keyword research doesn't just find high-volume keywords; it finds the right combination of achievable ranking difficulty, real buyer intent, and business value.

The mistake most Indian businesses make is chasing volume. A keyword with 50,000 monthly searches feels impressive on a spreadsheet. The problem is that volume without intent is traffic without buyers. A page ranking #1 for "how does SEO work" pulls in curious students and marketing interns; a page ranking #7 for "SEO agency for D2C brand in Delhi" pulls in exactly the buyer who will pay a retainer. Volume tells you how many people search; intent tells you whether any of them are buyers.

The other mistake is confusing keyword count with quality. Most agency proposals list "1000 keywords targeted" as if the number itself is the win. It isn't. Better to rank properly for 100 buyer-intent keywords than to publish 500 thin blog posts targeting 500 loose keywords — the second approach produces a lot of published content, almost no rankings, and zero pipeline. Clarvity's keyword research is about the right keywords, prioritised in the right order, with a plan for actually ranking them.

Our approach

How Clarvity runs a keyword research engagement.

Every project follows the same four-stage arc — discover, expand, classify, roadmap — but the depth of each stage scales with your business size, vertical count, and market breadth. Every keyword gets classified by intent, competition, and business relevance before it makes the roadmap.

01

Business & buyer discovery

Who your buyers are, what journey stages they go through, what they actually search for at each — foundation for everything after.

02

Data-driven expansion

Seed keywords expanded via Ahrefs, Semrush, Keyword Planner, AlsoAsked, and SERP analysis — cross-referenced across sources.

03

Intent classification

Every keyword tagged for intent, funnel stage, competition, and business value — the filter that separates worth-targeting from noise.

04

Roadmap delivery

Prioritised 3-6 month content calendar with target keywords, content briefs, and success metrics — ready to hand to any writing team.

Common questions

Keyword research, answered plainly.

What is keyword research?

Keyword research is the SEO practice of identifying the specific search queries that potential buyers use to find products, services, or information related to your business — and analysing each query's search volume, competition level, buyer intent, and business relevance. Good keyword research doesn't just find high-volume keywords; it finds the right combination of achievable ranking difficulty, real buyer intent, and business value — so content and SEO effort target searches that actually generate leads and revenue, not just traffic that never converts.

How much does keyword research cost in India?

Keyword research costs in India vary by scope. Basic keyword research for a small business site (up to 100 target keywords, single vertical, English only) typically costs ₹15,000-₹40,000 as a one-time project. Standard mid-market keyword research (200-500 keywords, competitor gap analysis, content roadmap) runs ₹40,000-₹1,50,000. Enterprise keyword research covering 1000+ keywords, multiple verticals, Hindi and regional language variants, and multi-market analysis costs ₹1,50,000-₹5,00,000. Ongoing keyword monitoring and quarterly refreshes are typically ₹10,000-₹50,000/month as an add-on to an SEO retainer.

How many keywords should I target?

Fewer than most agencies suggest, and more strategically chosen. A typical small business site can effectively target 30-100 primary keywords across service pages, blog posts, and location pages — each with 3-8 secondary and long-tail variants clustered around it. Mid-market businesses (broader service catalogue, multi-city) usually work with 200-500 primary targets. Enterprise sites with multiple verticals or geographies target 1000+ keywords organised into topic clusters. The mistake most Indian businesses make is chasing 5000 keywords with no cluster strategy — better to rank properly for 100 buyer-intent keywords than to publish 500 thin posts for 500 loose keywords.

Do you research for Hindi and regional language keywords?

Yes. India is a multilingual search market — Hindi, transliterated Hindi (Hinglish), and regional languages (Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam) all have significant search volume that most agencies ignore. Clarvity's India-focused keyword research covers English (primary), Hindi in Devanagari script, common Hinglish transliterations (which often outperform pure Hindi for D2C brands), and regional languages relevant to your target markets. This uncovers high-intent, low-competition queries that competitors chasing only English keywords miss entirely.

What tools do you use for keyword research?

Clarvity uses a combination of paid and free tools. Ahrefs and Semrush for volume, competition, and competitor gap analysis (both are considered industry standard, and neither is complete on its own — we cross-reference them). Google Keyword Planner for CPC and paid competition context. Google Search Console for existing performance data and untapped query opportunities. AlsoAsked and AnswerThePublic for People Also Ask and question-based keyword discovery. Google Trends for seasonality and rising queries. Moz and Ubersuggest as secondary sources. SERP analysis is manual — no tool substitutes for actually looking at what's currently ranking for a target query.

How long does it take to rank for the keywords you find?

Depends entirely on the keyword's competition and your site's authority. Low-competition long-tail keywords typically start ranking within 3-6 months once high-quality content targets them. Medium-competition keywords take 6-12 months of consistent content and link building to reach page one. High-competition head terms (single-word or two-word queries with dozens of established sites competing) take 12-24+ months and often significant off-page SEO investment. Anyone promising page-one rankings for competitive keywords in 30 days is either lucky, lying, or targeting keywords so obscure the promise is meaningless.
